This depends a lot on your own personal taste. If you enjoy electronic music more, some of their more recent stuff would be more appealing such as At War With the Mystics and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots would be a good start. If you are feeling something a little bit more dark, Zaireeka and Embryonic keep that tone quite well. Though if you listen to those, i would recommend you sit down and do it all at once, because they have the most effect after you hear the entire album. When it comes to more of a pop/electronic sound, you can't beat The Soft Bulletin. Their cover of Dark Side of the Moon is interesting, though I find for the sake of being able to enjoy it that I must not think of it in terms of it being a cover of a Pink Floyd album (if you try to compare it, it just doesn't measure up, however on it's own it is actually an interesting and compelling listen.) And then if you feel like going back to their alternative/punk-rock past, I would have to say Clouds Taste Metallic, Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, or Oh My Gawd!!! However I know other people that also thoroughly enjoy In a Priest Driven Ambulance and Hit to Death In the Future Head. And Hear It Is I have never heard and have trouble finding. But if you are a first time listener, some good songs would be Do You Realize, Race for the Prize, The W.A.N.D. or She Don't Use Jelly. And good starting albums would be Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, The Soft Bulletin and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. That would give you a good taste for what the Lips are about. :-)
