First, one must determine the severity of the injury. If the blood is pouring out profusely from the wound, apply immediate pressure with any type of clothe and call for an ambulance immediately, as the victim may only have minutes to live. If able, tie a rope or a piece of fabric above the injury ( closer to the heart) to slow the blood flow to the cut. If just a minor injury ( i.e. slow blood flow) apply pressure and visit the nearest hospital as stitches are most probably needed.
