Nabonitis was the last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, reigning from 556 to 539 BCE. He is known for his unusual religious practices, particularly his devotion to the moon god Sin, which led to tensions with the traditional Babylonian deity Marduk. Nabonitis spent much of his reign in the Arabian city of Tayma, leaving his son Belshazzar to govern Babylon. His reign ended with the conquest of Babylon by the Persian king Cyrus the Great.
