A four-wheel tractor is a versatile agricultural machine used for various tasks such as plowing, tilling, planting, and harvesting. Its four-wheel drive provides enhanced traction and stability, allowing it to operate efficiently on uneven or slippery terrain. Additionally, these tractors can be equipped with a range of attachments and implements, making them suitable for tasks beyond farming, including landscaping and construction. Overall, they significantly improve productivity and efficiency in agricultural operations.
The use of a four-wheel tractor is no different from any other tractor: to operate and pull machinery as a means to "work" the fields.
A tractor (usually fuelled by diesel) is the modern replacement for the shire horses that were once used in farming. A tractor, using many attachments available, is able to do in hours what once took horses several days to complete.
A four-wheel tractor is commonly used for agricultural tasks, such as plowing, tilling, and planting crops, due to its enhanced traction and stability on uneven terrain. Additionally, it can be utilized for hauling heavy loads, such as transporting harvested crops or equipment across a farm, making it versatile in both fieldwork and logistics.

I have read that the Sienna AWD system uses an open differential for the central differential (and I presume the front and rear as well) and relies on four wheel traction control to prevent wheel spin. It is always engaged.
It's actually four wheel drive, but uses a transverse engine with a transaxle... it's basically a front wheel drive vehicle plus a transfer case.
