your choice is to go to court and sue
When an unlicensed driver has an accident, the registered owner of the vehicle may face legal and financial consequences. The owner could be held liable for damages resulting from the accident, especially if they knowingly allowed the unlicensed individual to drive their vehicle. Additionally, the owner's insurance may not cover the accident, leading to potential out-of-pocket expenses. In some jurisdictions, the owner could also face fines or penalties for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate their vehicle.
no, YOU won't personally pay out of pocket, but your insurer will cover the cost, and then hike your rate unfortunately.
There are many top ways that one can save on auto insurance. One can be a safe driver, one can also increase their out of pocket expense that occurs when they get in an accident.
Then you are going to be out of pocket. For the repairs and possibly a fine.
In any state, if a driver is found at fault then he is responsible for the other car's repairs, either using his insurance company or out of pocket.
Police are not called to the accident and previous owner may have paid for repairs out of his pocket.
Truck driver
it would be smart if stops the owner from reporting the accident
you would have to pay for everything out of pocket
Funny enough I went through this same scenario - as well, I am an insurance broker. I was broad-sided by a driver who BEGGED me to leave the scene and pay out of pocket for my minimal damage. I agreed and the next day he called and told me that he was filing a claim instead!! The reason why he did this was to evade being arrested, being that he was DRUNK come to find out later!!! NEVER agree to settle without written agreement or police witness!! You may file within 30 days depending on where you are . I'm in Canada but the 30 day rule is fairly commonplace.
It is always the at-fault party's responsibility to pay for the damage they cause in an accident. Insurance is a transfer of risk from the driver to the insurance company, but if the coverage (collison) does not exist on the car, then the driver will be responsible to pay out of pocket for the damage.
You pay all of the expenses out of pocket. Medical, car, everything. Also get a lawyer because if you cannot afford to make the repairs you can get sued by either the other driver or there insurance to get the money back from you not having insurance.
