left hand side
Typically, riders mount and dismount horses from the left side. This tradition dates back to when knights carried weapons on their left side, making it easier to swing their right leg over the horse. However, some riders may also mount from the right side for various reasons.
To mount a horse, approach from the left side, hold the reins in your left hand, and place your left foot in the stirrup. Push yourself up and swing your right leg over the horse's back to sit in the saddle. To dismount, bring the horse to a stop, remove your feet from the stirrups, swing your right leg over the horse's back, and gently lower yourself to the ground on the left side.
To properly mount a bicycle, stand on the side of the bike, swing your leg over the seat, and place your foot on the pedal. To dismount, brake gently, put one foot on the ground, and swing your other leg over the seat. Then, step off the bike.
