To properly mount a bicycle, stand on the side of the bike, swing your leg over the seat, and place your foot on the pedal. To dismount, brake gently, put one foot on the ground, and swing your other leg over the seat. Then, step off the bike.

The Ordinary had a large front wheel with direct pedalling. A high seat and a small rear wheel. Braking was rather primitive. It took skill to mount and dismount the ordinary bicycle, commonly known as the Penny Farthing.
There are several ways to dismount, but the most common ones are to either click the mount ability again (if you have it on your action bar) or to click "dismount" in your mount list (Shift+P by default). You can also right-click the mount buff on your buff frame at the top right of the screen (by default).

To mount a bicycle properly, stand on the side of the bike with one foot on the ground and the other foot on the pedal in the lowest position.
