sounds like you need to replace the U-Joints in the drive shaft
broken hub usually?
Just grease the fittings... It makes all the difference
The muffler may have a hole in it due to rust.
I had the same problem. The bearings in the swing arm were worn out. This caused slack in the rear end and a misalignment in the u-joint on the drive shaft and made a popping noise.
Replace universal joint on rear of driveshaft
The popping noise can be caused by a bad year in the rear end. The popping noise can also because by a bad you joint.

Chances are you have a rock(S) stuck in your rear tire tread. pry it out.
Possibly a worn out universal joint.
Defective rear shocks. Loose exhaust components.
Could be your fuel filter or fuel pump.
could be the CV jopints of the car
