The James Couzens Agricultural School was never renamed. I was in the last senior class to graduate in the old building in 1961. An elementary school was built in 1953, and a new high school was completed in 1961. I believe the old school was used as a junior high until the present high school was completed in the early seventies. The first impact of the wrecking ball took place on May 18, 1975 when it was demolished. The school site is now the James J. Couzens Memorial Park, with only the cupola from the school building remaining. On May 18, 1977 bronze plaque noting the history of the school was placed at the site, and on May 18, 1992 the park was dedicated as a Michigan Historic Site. The three schools were then called the Bath community Schools. Most of this was taken from Arnie Bernstein's "Bath Massacre, Americas First School Bombing". V L Bercaw

Notably, George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, is the most prominent institution bearing his name. The exact number of schools can vary as new institutions may be established or existing ones renamed, but it is generally recognized that there are over a dozen schools named in his honor.
