Fighters compete within or for an umbrella organization or league. To locate a specific form you must contact a specific organization. Most leagues have a website with much information on it inlcuding how to join and compete for their organization.
The selection process in 2008 was the same as it is each year. Every country has a National Taekwondo organization, often referred to as the NGB (National Governing Body), or GNB (Governing National Body) which is recognized by the National Olympic Committee in each country. Athletes participate in State and National Olympic Championships, and then compete in the National Team Trials. After that, they compete in the National Olympic qualifiers to earn a spot on the team. These events are scheduled at various times in each country, and the dates are posted in advance on the website for the World Taekwondo Federation's member National Associations in each country.

A man named Ban Johnson bought a minor league club called the western league in the late 1800's. At the time the national league was the only major league baseball organization. In 1900 ban Johnson changed the name to the American league. They were still a minor league organization but Johnson, trying to change that started buying national league players with promises of better pay. By 1903 with the national league struggling, the men in charge of the national league finally agreed to let Ban Johnson's American league compete with the national league in a separate but equal league
