I assume you mean the WPA key used in wireless networks.
First you need to log in to your router. For precise instructions, check your router manual. To do it, you need to enter a special address into your address bar. This usually begins 192.168. Try entering these two:
192.168.0.1
or
192.168.1.1
Once you log in, there will be a variety on menus to choose from. You will have to find it for yourself. There should be an option to change the WPA key. Choose a long one, but make sure you write it down! You will need to change the key of all devices which connect wirelessly to the router. This is very easy to do through windows.
In terms of technology.. WPA is most commonly used as the acronym for Wi-Fi Protected Access
It is on the back of your router/modem.
To encrypt data

WPA, in the Information Technology industry, stands for WiFi Protected Access. It is a more secure wireless protection / encryption algorithm than the original WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) standard.
