Well, Keywords are said to be the backbone of any SEO campaign, Hence the keyword research becomes the basic and most important activity while planning any SEO campaign.
Most people do keyword research using Google keyword planner. Where all you need to do is to enter the seed keyword choose the geographical area and click search.
Frankly speaking this isn't keyword research... you can't just put random words related to your business in the keyword planner, pick the bunch of high traffic keywords from the results and start optimizing your website accordingly... It's not that simple.
There is a proper method ( At least I follow one)
<1> Understand your Niche.
<2> Spend some time on Competitor Analysis.
<3> Check out the keywords your competitors are using ( If you are lucky you may find these keywords in ).
<4> Use keyword research tool (I prefer KeywordXPover google planner.)
<5> Pick the keywords having low competition and high search volume.
<6> Dig out some longtail (FYI you cannot find longtail keywords using keyword planner ).
<7> Finalize the keywords and Start SEO campaign.
It does sound simple, isn't it? but no it doesn't end here. SEO is a continuous process, you have to spend time and pray to google (google is your god if you are SEO optimizer)
So Use proper tool ( I would suggest keyword XP, it works well for me)
Spend time on competitor analysis and target as many longtails as possible.
Hope you find this information useful
Happy SEO.
