I actually use NXT but I imagine you use the light sensor to detect when there isn't a black line under it. Then steer to the left a bit and if the line isn't found, steer to the right until it's found.

When did Lego mindstorms launch its first wave of programmable robots?

LEGO Mindstorms launched their first robot around 1994. I believe it was the LEGO RCX.

How does a NXT Lego Robot move in a square?

It may be difficult to get the NXT to move in a square depending on the texture of the ground it will be moving on. NXT robots (as well as RCX robots or any other Lego robot) do not move well on carpet, for example. It also depends on the battery power and design of your robot. A robot that has only three wheels will have a much easier time turning on any surface than a robot with four wheels will.

Which is better rcx or nxt?

The NXT is better because it is an updated version of the RCX. It comes with three motors and all-new sensors. Rcx is getting harder to use and thwe new NXT is much easier to use.

What is the difference between Lego mindstorms RCX and NXT?

Actually, a lot. If you are buying this for a child, I recommend buying the NXT. These pieces may be a little bit small (ages 11+), but they hold together better, the NXT has much better interface, and the robot possibilities are much higher. With RCX, you use regular Lego bricks. And on the other hand, NXT uses special strong-lock bricks. Also NXT is compatible with Lego's newest building system. This uses metal pieces which are lightweight, sturdy, and completely safe. NXT is much, much better than RCX. Does this answer your question. On the other hand, the RCX comes with an infrared transmitter. You have to pay extra for one of those on NXT (via bluetooth). The RCX also has a better programming GUI. It is easier for beginners to understand.

How should you build first Lego league robots?

Since I assume you mean FIRST Lego League and you mean it for this year's, you build it like any other robot, it just has to be able (assuming you want to have a chance of winning) to do all of the tasks in The Game. You would have to be able to move all of the balls, the polar bear and everything else. You shouldn't spend more than a week with the building, though, programming and the project are also important and involve a lot more time. However, depending on whether you're using a NXT or RCX, there are some restrictions: NXT NXT controller (1) motors (3) touch sensors (2) light sensors (2) lamp (1) rotation sensors (3) minus the number of NXT motors present ultrasonic sensor (1) RCX RCX controller (1) motors (3) touch sensors (2) light sensors (2) lamp (1) rotation sensors (3) 3rd touch OR light sensor (1)
