The brightness setting is usually hardware.
If you have a PC with a seperate monitor, the brightness settings will be on the monitor, sometimes as an individual button or in the menu settings.
If you have a laptop with a built-in display, the brightness setting is usually changed either with software supplied by the manufacturer, or by shortcut keys on the keyboard.
For example on my Toshiba laptop I can change the brightness with a specific button on the case for that purpose, or using the "Fn+F6/Fn+F7" shortcuts, or by using the mouse to select the feature from the onscreen menu.
On my PC I use the "Menu" and arrow buttons on my screen to change it.
Most handheld devices like tablets and mobile phones also have brightness settings, they will be under the "settings" menu on the device although you can usually install a widget onto the device to make changing the setting easier to do.
Hope this helps!

Temperatures vary between air conditioning systems, but 60 degrees is usually as low as you can go. It is not wise to use such a setting, because it can put undue stress on the unit.

Yes puase it then go on settings and change what you want(brightness, screen angle, volume, ect.)
You or someone else probably changed the brightness setting without know it. Some TV have an ECO setting that saves energy and isn't as bright. You could have also turned this off. Some televisions can be set to auto adjust their brightness depending on ambient lighting levels. Sometimes, this can be triggered incorrectly.
Brightness refers to how bright the shadows are and contrast refers to how bright the highlights are. So, for example, if you had a dark rectangle and a light rectangle on the screen, the brightness setting will affect the dark rectangle and the contrast setting will affect the light rectangle. If both brightness and contrast are set to minimum, the screen will be pure black. Brightness should be set so that black objects (like text, borders, etc) are pure black, but dark gray objects (shadows on buttons etc.) are still visible on a dark background. Contrast should be set to a comfortable setting, whatever you choose, if the monitor is too bright, turn the contrast setting down, if it is too dark turn the setting up.
