How do you upload a picture on a wiki?

This will depend very much on what wiki software the site is using. Here is how you upload to a MediaWiki (the software that runs Wikipedia) wiki:

1. Log in. Most wikis require registration to upload files.

2. On the left-hand side, scroll down into the "Toolbox" section. You should see a link that says "Upload file." Click it.

3. On Wikipedia and some other wikis, you will have to select licensing info, on others, you will be presented with an upload form described below.

4. The first input box will say "Source filename". Click the Browse button to select the file that you want to upload.

5. The destination filename is what you want the file to be called on the wiki. Choose a descriptive name, not "P19954C.JPG."

6. The Summary box is where you enter a detailed description of your file.

7. The "Watch this page" box will alert you if someone edits your descriptionor uploads a new version. The "Ignore any warnings" is used ifyou are replacing a previous version of the picture with the same filename.
