Most applications of RS-232 break this standard and have different devices connected to the 2 ends, semi-emulating DTEs & DCEs. This semi-emulation usually causes some kind of compatibility problems.
With the old type of serial port, you could only use a single device per port. With the USB, you can have a total of 256 USB devices in the entire system per main controller. However, each USB controller and bridge in use will use up one of those slots.
Many of the oldest types of joysticks connect via a serial port. The next generation of joysticks used a port called the game port. Most of the newer joysticks available today connect via a USB port.
No. The term serial port refers to the older 9 or 25 pin, male connectors on the back of a PC. They were used for connecting to modems, certain printers, and mice.A USB port, while it is technically a type of serial port, it is incompatible with the old type of serial port. A USB port gets information about the device from the device, while the old type serial port simply transmitted data. USB to serial adapters do exist, but compatibility can be a challenge.
NetPort is a 'plug-and-play' Serial-to-Ethernet cable adaptor that enables any device or machine with a serial port, to become network and Internet-enabled in an instant.
No. VGA port is not either serial or parallel port. It is a different interface. If you need a serial output, you need a VGA to serial converter.
Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a serial bus standard to interface devices to a host computer.
usb port driver, serial adapter,
The serial port is mostly used to connect Modems. However, there are many devices that can connect to the serial port. Some of these are, mouses, trackballs, scanners, Ham radio equipment, cash registers and many many more.

You can purchase a USB to Serial lead, which will work.Hope this helpsbe safe
A serial port can be connected to numerous devices; pretty much any device that has another serial port. Examples include: Modems, serial mice, serial printers, bar code readers, digital scales, data acquisition equipment, pumps, flow monitors, radios, etc. I have a ham radio receiver that is controlled completely through a serial port and custom software; and I am writing a custom piece of software right now that connects through the serial port to a digital scale for process automation.
This question is too vague to give a specific answer to. Do you mean the old COM port of a PC? If so, this is an RS232 type port which is "point to point" - in other words you can only connect one device to it. There are many other serial interfacing technologies, some of which support many devices attached to one port - e.g. RS485 which is a multidrop bus and can have many devices connected to one pair of wires. Modern interfaces like USB are also serial in nature. USB can support up to 127 devices on a multilevel connection structure, but you can still only connect one pair of devices on a single wire. To attach more devices use a USB hub (or lots of them). Standard USB hubs spread one connection to either 4 or seven downstream ports.
USB is an acronym for Universal Serial Bus, the successor to earlier computer peripheral connections such as parallel and serial ports. It is an interface (like Firewire) that connects a wide variety of plug and play devices to the computer. These devices can be connected and disconnected without the need of a restart of shutdown of the PC. USB devices include external HDD's, the USB mouse and keyboard, flash memory devices, and printers. USB 1.1 is obsolete. USB 2.0 is currently the most popular interface used. USB 3.0 is out, but still in its early days. With each USB version release comes new features, such as backward compatibility with previous standards and speed enhancements.
Plug two or three devices into that port if none of them work the port is defective.
