You might try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser, but it is more likely your battery has given up the ghost.
If this machine is newish, the battery may be defective. If the system is still under warranty, contact Dell for a replacement.
If you've had this machine for more than a year or two, you've probably just reached the end of the batterys lifetime. Under normal usage a laptop battery is only good for a couple years and its just time for you to buy a new one.
Hope this helps.
Everything that is plugged into the mains socket and switched on will use electricity even if it's a battery charger with no batteries in. So yes they do draw electrical power from the mains.
Answer: Any device which exceeds a computer's VA/Watt rating should not be plugged into the outlets. Most printers can be plugged into a power strip. A laser printer, however, should be plugged directly into the wall.
this is actually really simple to fix. all you have to do is: 1. plug in your charger 2. take out your battery from your computer for about 20 seconds. 3. put your battery back in.
Yes - the back-up battery will keep the internal clock & calendar running until it's plugged back into the mains.
If you mean the typical all-in-one PC, then you do not need batteries. These computers are designed to be plugged into AC (alternating current). They are a type of desktop computer. The system unit box has been incorporated into a 22 inch (or larger) flat screen monitor. The only battery in it would keep the basic BIOS settings. This is a tiny button style battery.

No, if you have your power plugged into your laptop all the time. Your battery will decrease its performance until your battery will last only a couple of minutes until flat.
not really. if you take out the battery when plugged in you could short circuit the laptop. trust me i know.
shutdown laptopremover ac adapter and batteryhold down start button for about 30 secondsreconnect battery and ac Adapterswitch on laptopall should now be working fine ( works every time for me )
The battery goes dead. should not hurt the plane, unless the batteries leak. battery may not charge if plugged into an automatic charger.
Try putting it on charge or taking the battery out and put it back in :)
No, this unit must be plugged into the wall.
Computers don't have batteries so I'm assuming you're talking about a laptop. Laptops with their battery SHOULD work when its plugged in. Some laptops can even work WITHOUT the battery but still plugged in. However, if your battery has a critical flaw (dead short) then even with it plugged in, it won't work. I suggest you try the laptop with the battery removed. If it works, that is the problem, otherwise, your laptop has other problems.
no, not at all i always keep mine plugged in
I usually leave it plugged in if I can, because why not keep your battery charged?
try this from the "bleepingcomputer" forum: I solved the problem by using up my battery until the the screen would black out. Afterwards, I rebooted it (again without using the AC adaptor) and the system warned me of low battery - to press F1. After pressing F1, I plugged the AC adaptor back and tried rebooting. The problem was solved!
Check the battery or if it is plugged in.
