first you need an isp (internet service provider) and then from there you can choose either wireless which in turn you will need a router and a modem, or you can go with a wired connection in which all you will simply need is a phone line a modem and a ethernet cable HAVE A SWELL DAY

A Wireless adapter in the back of your PC will do it, all you need to do is choose a wifi hotspot and hack it (i am not recommending hacking, it is not a safe alternative to not paying for internet service)

A Modem, Etherenet Cable, Wireless Router ( If you want it wireless) A computer to use your internet on :D
The only strict requirement for using the internet is an internet connection. You can connect to the internet on an original IBM PC with an 8088 processor and 256k of RAM. On not much more powerful hardware, you can get a web browser going. A full color web browser can be run on a 386 processor and 4 MB of RAM. For all of the newest features available on the internet, you'll probably need a Pentium III and 256 MB of RAM.

There are several devices you can use to connect to the internet. These include a modem, an Ethernet adapter and router, or a wireless card / router. These can be interfaced to a computer in a variety of ways, including USB, PCI, ISA, and even a serial port.

Internet connectivity has been implemented with dozens of different types of hardware on a variety of computers. This can be done with a dial-up modem, a wireless card or Ethernet card (in conjunction with a cable modem and/or router), a USB connection to a cable or DSL modem, a 3G card, a satellite modem, a serial or parallel cable connection to another computer with internet access, etc...

On the software side, you will need a working TCP/IP stack. These are available for almost every modern operating system. If you have Windows 98 or later, Mac OS 8 or later,or Linux, you already have a TCP/IP stack installed. There are also TCP/IP stacks available for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and MS-DOS. Depending on what you actually want to do with the internet, you will also need a web browser, email client, chat client, IRC client, etc...

An extremely large number of devices have been used for connecting to the internet. For practical purposes, you should have one of the following:

  • An internal modem (28.8 kbps or higher) or an available serial port to attach an external one.
  • A cable /DSL modem + USB cable or cable / DSL modem + Ethernet cable.
  • A wireless card + wireless router connected to the cable / DSL modem.
Connecting to the internet requires:
  • The TCP/IP protocol to be installed on your computer. (This comes pre-installed with every version of windows since win 98 and every Linux/Unix installation)
  • Working, up-to-date drivers for your network card
This will enable you to connect to the internet, however if you wish to use it for browsing
and email, you will have to use a browser and an email-client. Free and good examples are:
  • Browser: Mozilla Firefox
  • Email Client: Mozilla Thunderbird.

Also it is worth noting that having anti-virus and anti-spyware software while using the internet is highly recommended. There are plenty good and free options

The requirements for the internet are;-

  1. computer system
  2. modem (modulator-demodulator)
  3. telephone or cable connection
  4. internet service provider(isp)
  5. internet access software
  6. internet browser software

On the hardware side you would need an ethernet adapter (aka a network adapter), and on the software side you would need a browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

If you already have a PC with keyboard, mouse, etc and an operating system installed (such as Microsoft Windows) it will depend on whether you are using:

dial-up
you will need a modem which connects from your computer to the telephone line

or, broadband
you will need either:
a USB broadband modem which connects your computer to the telephone line,
or:
an ADSL Modem/Router which plugs into your telephone line and (depending on which kind of ADSL Modem/Router you get) some way of connecting your computer to the ADSL Modem/Router. This is usuall wired (Ethernet) or wireless networking.

Once you decide who (as in which company) will provide your Internet access the company will guide you from there.
