Computers have developed dramatically.

I remember reading a magazine article that had a statement something like, "If aviation had improved in the last twenty years in the same ways computers have, you would be able to buy a Boeing 747 for less than eight dollars and fly it around the world in 20 minutes on half a gallon of gas." In the days when that article appeared, a new IBM PC could be purchased for a little under $3000 with 64 kilobytes of RAM and a floppy drive, but no hard drive.

The one thing that bothers me about all the progress, is that my current machine is 1000 times as fast, has 10000 times as much memory, and 100000 times as much disk space as the machine I had 27 years ago, but it cannot do one thing my old machine did rather well, which is to keep up with my typing.
