An LDR is a Light dependent resistor.
General purpose resistor is used to resist the current flow.the common resister is general purpose resister.
Process
Two resistors connected in parallel are 1/2 the sum of their resistance. The resistance of two resistors connected in series is the sum of their resistance. For example: The total resistance of a 100 ohm resistor connected to a 200 ohm resistor in parallel is 100+200 divided by 2 = 150 ohms. The total resistance of a 100 ohm resistor connected to a 200 ohm resistor in series 100+200= 300 ohms.
The resistor has gone to open ( or possibly short ) circuit. Remove ( if possible ) the resistor from the circuit and measure its stand alone resistance. If the resistor measures infinate then you need to replace it with whatever the circuit asks for. ie 10ohms, 15 ohms etc. Make sure you test the simple things first such as power supply and ensure that you are receiving power to at least one side of the resistor. If you are working on an electronic card then make sure you check your ' circuit paths ' you may have a burnt track. Test your continuity across your paths. Don't nescessarily concerntrate on the resistor itself it may not have power on it due to another component failure or circuit failure. Cheers.
The symbol for Light-Dependent Resistor (LDR) is a resistor symbol with photo-sensitive material added to one side. It looks like a regular resistor with one side having a shaded area to represent its light sensitivity.
The symbol of a thermistor is a resistor with an arrow pointing towards it.

Put the resistor symbol ie zig zag. Then put a crossing line with arrow headed at the top.

The following is the closest I can get using character map: ───►├── Keep in mind that the gaps are not supposed to be there. It's just a formatting error. the symbol is like this but without the gap: --------->|-------
Its a sign of resistor with a tilted arrow.

symbols of fixed resistors
labeled R, a resistor looks like this in a diagram-----/\/\/\/\/\-----add a variable resistor has an arrow superimposed at an angle. The modern symbol is a thin rectangle, with the lead outs shown at the centre of the smaller ends. The old symbol was shown as a Zigzag.

Use the standard resistor symbol and then place an arrow across the resistor. The bottom of the arrow midpoint of the resistor and just below, the tip of the arrow (draw with an arrow head) just above the resistor. This represents the wiper of the variable resistor.
