The original idea for the Universal Serial Bus or USB was that you would be able to "daisy-chain" devices one to another. This worked, until device manufacturers realized that they could draw power from the USB circuit to power the device. You can't daisy-chain devices and still draw power from them.

An earlier version of the same concept, the Small Computer System Interface or SCSI would (in theory!) allow you to daisy-chain no more than 7 devices together. But the devices were only compatible in theory, and the configuration was sometimes a bit tricky. This also required you to manually set a unique identifier for each device.

Can you hook a notebook to a printer?

Depending on the Notebook computer and the printer, they can be "hooked-up." On modern notebook computers and modern printers, this can be done via a wireless network or a direct wireless connection via bluetooth. If a physical connection is necessary, it is usually done via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable. Keep in mind that for you to be able to print from the notebook to the printer with the connection in place, the proper drivers (software) must be on and working on the notebook computer.

Why won't my notebook connect to the internet?

It is possible that the router (wireless network) that you are connecting to is not currently connected to a modem (the internet). In this case, your computer will say that it is connected to a wireless network, but the network is not connected to the internet. If you have access to the router, check to see that the router has an ethernet connection to a modem.
