∙ 11y agoComputer simulation - is using a computer program to test something that would be difficult to do in real life. Take an airline pilot. Most commercial pilots are trained using a flight simulator. It's basically a large box on hydraulic legs, kitted out to look like a plane's cockpit - that mimics the movements the pilot would make in a real aircraft. It's cheaper to train a pilot that way - than risk them crashing a real plane !
Some surgeons use computer simulations to plan out what they need to do in a difficult operation.
