A floppy can hold any files that will fit into its very limited amount of space (by today's standards). A 3-1/2-inch Double Density (3.5" DD) disk holds only 720K of data while a 3-1/2-inch High Density (3.5" HD) disk holds double that at 1.44MB. (In actual numbers of bytes, it works out to 730,112 for the DD and 1,457,664 for the HD.) So, that could hold a fair number of MS Word documents and even more text files but would not hold many modern pictures and would most likely not hold even a single MP3.

What is the DOS command used to copy ALL of the files on one floppy disk to memory and then copy that same information to multiple other floppy diskettes with one command?

DISKCOPY is the command to copy all of the files to memory and then copy those files to another disk. Unfortunately, it does not copy to multiple disks. Here is the syntax: DISKCOPY [drive1: [drive2:]] [/1] [/V] [/M] /1 Copies only the first side of the disk. /V Verifies that the information is copied correctly. /M Force multi-pass copy using memory only.

When was the floppy disk intoduced?

The original floppy was an 8 inch, single sided disk first developed in the late 1960's as a result of research efforts by IBM. The first floppy disk drive systems became commercially available in 1971. They cost more than a new PC costs today. The floppy disk was introduced in the 1970's, and it revolutionized data storage in the PC. It ran strongly for some time, but faded in the 1990's. It is rare to see a working machine being used in this day and age with a floppy drive in it. Wikipedia has more information, and you'll find a link to their post just down the page below this answer.1971According to wikipedia; IBM introduced 8-inch floppy disk (read-only) in 1971...

The best way to recover data from a floppy disk is with floppy disk recovery software, such as Wondershare Data Recovery. Install and open the program. Locate your floppy drive and open it to view the files. You can then use the recovery program to recover any file from a floppy disk, even very badly corrupted ones.

Can you save to the disk when a notch on a floppy disk is open?

Write-Protect Tab (you call it a "notch") is a little plastic rectangle in the upper right corner of most floppy disks. When the hole is open, the disk is locked and you can't add any more files to the floppy. If the write-Protect Tab is missing, simply cover the hole with a bit of sticky tape and you can add more files to the floppy..
