i depends what type of computer you have, some computers have different functions that occur when the f8 key is pressed. Also it depends on what program you are running in the foreground window. For example: on my Lenovo X220 Tablet, F8 does nothing in Google chome, when i move to another app, it might do something. Or if I press Function+ F8 it gives me pointing device options. Like I said it all depends on what program or computer you have.

∙ 12y agoThe F8 function key is a prompt that tells the computer to display startup options before actually loading windows. When you press the f8 key during startup, a display list will come up with options such as safemode, safe mode with networking, command prompt, last known good settings, system restore (windows vista/7). F8 key during start up is just to execute commands before starting windows. The use of it really is if the computer needs maintenance or you are troubleshooting issues.
