Even the most loyal and conscientious will eventually, in the face of seeing their colleagues made redundant or otherwise forced out of their jobs, take more sick leave and under an unethical management absenteeism and loss of good, long-term staff will escalate. Some managements believe they're saving money. They aren't. They are costing the firm a great deal in loss of expertise and experience, and when their redundancy policies are employed in clearly inappropriate situations - soon before a worker is due to retire, or when a worker has made a claim for compensation, for example - the level of disgust among the workforce rises and the reliability factor drops.
