Cellular telephone networks will begin to compete directly with the current wired telephone network.Pervasive networking will also increase the use of electronic data interchange (EDI), the paperless transmission of business documents between companies.The internet has experienced such rapid growth that it now connects millions of computers in virtually every country in the world.

Another one which is coming at us like a freight train is electronic cash payments made from our phones. Touch and go, or what's called Near Field Communication (NFC). Soon all phones will have the technology built in as standard.
