If you are on Windows XP then use Disk Defragmentor and Disk Cleanup which can both be find in the Start Menu under-- Start -> All Programs -> Accesories -> System Tools. You can also check out programs on the web like a registry cleaner. Registry cleaners are very effective when it comes to speeding up your computer and fixing common errors.
