when you open the engine cover look at the right side as you stand . no 1 cylinder is the inner one in the side where the starter located.
When facing the engine compartment from the rear of the vehicle the number one cylinder is located on the right and furthest forward. The number 4 cylinder is located to the left and furthest rearward.

#1 is the first plug closest to the radiator on the drivers side.
on the drivers side the plug closest to the radiator is the #1 plug.
Looking towards the rear window, it is the RIGHT front cylinder. (passenger side, front cylinder, USA)
