Ron Spillman was a Professional Photographer and a Journalist . I remember him writing a column in 'Amateur Photographer' magazine back in c1984/87. Full of information, he had the knack of making a technical subject interesting and was able to explain complex matters in laymans terms without ever being patronising. Sadly I recall him passing away a couple of years ago but for a magical few years in the Eighties both he and Victor Blackman contributed to the then World's No 1 Photographic Magazine. Sadly those days are well and truly over as Digital cameras have changed Photography irreversibly but whilst he was around, Ron was a breath of fresh air in what could have been a very stuffy read otherwise.
