Back in the 1970's(I'll call that a generation) computers were viewed with distrust. Like all change. Seen as a means of possibly controlling the population and a possible loss of jobs. Also people in general tend to view new things with suspicion.

Today computers are everywhere. Hardly anyone is unfamilar with a computer. Also... we now have 3D printers. 3D printers are doing some amazing things, from prostetic limbs to building houses in China.

People see that there is some bad that goes with computers, but it's far outweighed by the positives.
