You can connect a laptop to a computer using a special USB cable known as a bridge cable, link cable, transfer cable or USB network cable. These cables have a USB A type connector on both ends and the cable itself is joined via a small adapter that controls the data flow and electrical current between the laptop and computer.

Laptops cannot be connected directly through USB, without some sort of bridge in the middle. If you ever see a straight Type A to Type A cable, don't buy it. There are two possible methods for networking through USB:

1. File Transfer bridge - This device has a small bridging device in the middle. You need special software on both computers for it to be useful. Belkin is the most notable manufacturer of this type of product.

2. USB Ethernet Adapters. This basicly gives you an Ethernet jack. You can connect the laptops to each other with a patch cable between the two adapters, using standard networking apps. If your laptops already have Ethernet jacks, there is no reason to buy such adapters, and you should use the built-in ones.

Look, USB port has 4 pins.

pin-1 is for power supply

pin-2 for receive data

pin-3 for sending date

pin-4 for ground.

the problem is that at the another end of USB the same pin is there.

but the another PC can't interprete the signals.

because of this

Pin-1 to Pin-1

Pin-2 to Pin-2

Pin-3 to Pin-3

Pin-4 to Pin-4

so send to send and receive to receive is generate.

so we have to change the another end pin as below,

Pin-1 to Pin-4

Pin-2 to Pin-3

Pin-3 to Pin-2

Pin-4 to Pin-1

and that need some programming on which i am working.

I think we can connect it through lan cable UTP or STP. I tried it but not completed, but there is probably a need of hub or router.

We can connect 2 laptops in lan through a 8 port hub. from the modem the rj 45 cable will be connected to hub or switch and from the hub a 2 seperate rj crossover cable wiil be connected to each laptop.

To directly connect two computers together using an Ethernet Cable you need a special cable called an Ethernet Crossover Cable. It switches the connectors on one end so 'A' on one end is 'B' on the other, and visa versa.
