relative cell reference
A relative cell reference is one that changes when a formula is copied. It has no dollar symbols in it. There are 3 types of cell reference: Relative, Mixed and Absolute.
B3 is a relative reference. $B3 or B$3 are mixed references. $B$3 is an absolute reference.
Relative cell references change, but the cell itself does not change.
Relative
It doesn't matter if it's relative or absolute until you need to copy it, which you will probably need to do if your spreadsheet has more than one row. Usually when you have an equation in your file it is copied to fill an entire column so that a result is calculated for each row's data.
A relative reference is a cell address that can automatically change relative to the cell's location. If you have a formula =A1+A2 and copy that Formula One cell to the right, it will automatically change to =B1+B2, because the cells change relative to where they are moved.
There is nothing you do to a cell. You can make cell references relative or absolute. A relative cell address is the interstion of a column and a row, like A1.
specifis cell no
B12 is a relative reference.
C3 is a relative cell reference.
No. Relative cell referencing is the default.
relative cell address
No it is not invalid. It is the cell address of the cell where column B meets row 17. It is a relative cell address.
Yes it does. This is because reference "B20" is relative and not absolute. You can change a cell reference so that the column and/or the row reference is absolute and then it will not change when copied to another cell. Click on the help icon and search for "relative absolute" and read the help article for further information.
A relative reference in a formula will change when it is copied.

if you move or copy the formula to another cell, the cells referred formula will changed. Excel adjusts the cell references relative to the new cell in which the formula is pasted. this is called relative referencing.
