The blank indicated by "-" means you continue the previous note as many times as the "-" appears.
The Sa (सा) in the last line is the 1st note of the Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa octet (madhyam) whereas in the first three lines the Sa (सा) is the eighth note.
Finally, the Ni (नि) in the last line is the lower octet note.
