Yes, you can replace your PS3 Hard drive.

Must be a SATA 2.5" 9.5mm laptop hard drive that runs at 5400rpm to prevent heat problems (SSD hard drive also work but will NOT speed up load times) and transfers data at 1.5gbs as anything faster won't go any faster.

Various brands come pre-installed in the PS3: Seagate, Fujitsu, Hitachi, and Toshiba. You can also use Western Digital and Samsung these are OK.

Hard drive capacity? As long as matches the criteria above the PS3 will then format the hard drive to FAT32, which has a limit of 2TB.

You can also use desktop 3.5" SATA hard drives but it will not fit inside the PS3, so you will need extension cables for SATA data and SATA power, you will also need tweezers due to the confined space, they also make an adapter that you install in place of the hard drive and cover that moves the SATA port to the surface of the PS3's case, though it is not made by Sony

Yes. Generally everything in a computer can be upgraded. It depends on what kind of hardware specs you have and how much you are willing you spend. If you have a newer motherboard you can generally use the newer processors. If you have a older motherboard you may be limited to older processors. Hard drive wise you can generally upgrade to any hard drive. If you use an IDE connection or SATA connection is what matters with these upgrades. You can also upgrade video cards and sound cards but these are also limited to what type of motherboard you have. The newer video cards support PCI Express for instance you and your motherboard may only support AGP which is the older standard for video cards.

I think so. My desktop bought in 1998 was, and so it was practically a desktop 2000 afterwards, so you could probably upgrade the hard drives now-a-days on any computer.
