Check in the registry programs which are starting on system boot. One of them might work incorrect. Start->Run->Regedit, press enter. After that, go in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Delete what you think is crushing your system, try to start your system in normal mode. Check the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run also.

Upon booting up or rebooting a computer, the system looks for configuration files which tells the computer how to load and what to load. The Windows registry in the System Ini files contain a list of of all the user's settings/preferences and a list of all the program it will need to load on start up. These files can be modified to change settings, what programs to load on start up and many other settings and preference.
Attempt to start the computer in Safe Mode and load a minimal set of drivers. Or you can try rebooting the computer with the operating system disk.

Click start, then right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". It should be under "Windows edition".
Click on the Start button at the bottom left of your computer. Right click on the word Computer and click Properties. You should see which Windows you have.
This is probably because you quit Opera improperly. What you have to do is open the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), find Opera's process and quit it from there. If this does not work, try rebooting your computer. If this does not work, find your Bookmarks folder on your computer. Put it somewhere safe and uninstall Opera. Reinstall Opera, and it should work.
Restart the computer, and prior to Windows starting to load, press the F8 key. This will bring up a number of options, including options to start Windows in safe mode. You may need to repeatedly press F8 to get this. Older computers may use the left shift key.Alternatively, if you are able to boot into Windows normally, click Start -> Run, and type msconfig. Select the option for diagnostic startup, and have it restart the machine. This should accomplish the same thing.
