Do all computer regardless of size have a processing unit why?

Answer 1

Every single computer of any kind (including game systems, MP3 players, etc.) has some sort of CPU, or processor. To further this discussion, anything that thinks is considered a computer. You are a computer, your brain is the processor.

Answer 2

Yes all Modern computers have microprocessors, older computers had 16 and 32 bit microprocessors while latest personal computers have 64 bit computing architechture.

Sixty-four-bit processors have been with us since 1992, and in the 21st century they have started to become mainstream. Both Intel and AMD have introduced 64-bit chips, and the Mac G5 sports a 64-bit processor. Sixty-four-bit processors have 64-bit ALUs, 64-bit registers, 64-bit buses and so on.

Answer 3

The main processor is the basic engine of the computer. This undertakes all the calculations decisions required of it by the BIO and applications. In recent years it no also is able to off set many of the functions such as graphics to other areas of the machine which then allows it to work faster and more efficiently.

Answer 4

It depends on what you mean. For a device to truly be a computer, it would have to have a processor of some sort, even if it is simplistic. The processor does not have to be on a single chip.

If a device looks like a personal computer but lacks a CPU, then it is simply a data entry terminal and not a true computer.

Answer 5

For digital computers, yes they all have a processing unit. Analog computers, which may compute results based on position of gears or some other means may not have a processing unit that you can easily distinguish as a separate component.

Answer 6

Yes, all computers, regardless of size, have a processing unit because it is essential for carrying out instructions and performing calculations. The processing unit, often referred to as the central processing unit (CPU), is the "brain" of the computer that executes program instructions and processes data. Without a processing unit, a computer would not be able to function as it would lack the ability to perform computations and tasks necessary for operation.

Answer 7

All digital computers have a CPU (central processing unit). In addition modern computers have many sub-systems that are basically little single purpose computers (like an IO processor).
