Personally, if you are just a casual computer user, I would highly suggest looking for a dual core processor. They run seamlessly when Surfing the internet or playing games. However, if you are into extreme gaming or something of the sort that demands extremely high performance, I would recommend a quad-core processor or something of the sort. However, a quad core is not at all necessary for casual computer use.
