Windows has a GUI and CLI. You use the GUI pretty much all the time. Dump the windows and get a Linux install, try ubuntu and get used to using the well structured CLI. The GUI will make more sense then in general.
Why is the windows xp user interface is called a desktop?
User interface
Both are same as DOS is also an OS.. But Dos is Character User Interface(CUI) But latest Operating systems are Graphical User Interface(GUI) ex: Windows xp, Windows 7, Windows Vista Etc.,
If you are asking about the graphical interface, windows XP comes with just 1 interface, and it can be customized to a point, but that is somewhat limited. Unix comes with multiple graphical desktop managers, not just one. Users can pick and choose which environment is best for them. With Windows, the choice is already made for the user. Handling of icons and desktops are very different in Unix and Windows. The list would be too long to detail in this answer.
it is like windows 98 but with better performance
CLI is Command Line Interface GUI is Graphical User Interface CLI - You type commands into a prompt and the computer executes them. GUI - You use a graphical interface and make selections with the mouse and the computer executes them. CLI example: MS-DOS GUI example: MS Windows XP
For starters, DOS is practically obsolete. DOS stands for Disk Operating System and was mostly a Command Line Interface, or CLI for short, OS. Windows XP is a GUI, Graphical User Interface, based OS. So in other words, they are both completely different Operating Systems.
Windows 3.x refers to GUI (Graphical User Interface) based personal computer operating systems from Microsoft. These are very early predecessors of current Windows XP and Vista. These include Windows 3.0 or Windows 3.1x. These were followed by Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and then Windows Vista. - Neeraj Sharma
MS-DOS user interface,
Microsoft Windows XP is Microsoft's 5th revision of Windows NT. Windows XP is based off Windows 2000 and unified the Home and Business lines of OS. Previously, Windows NT up to Windows 2000 was a business orientated OS while Windows 95 to Windows ME was a home oriented OS. Windows Vista is Microsoft's 6th revision of Windows NT and introduced may new features including updated security and a new graphical user interface caller Aero.
The Basic thing are different with in Vista and Xp are tehy layout and representation and controll of the features of how the functionaliy and control of the OS is handle via the difference of them both.. First answer...WHAT? The user interfaces differ quite a bit from XP to Vista. Vista also requires much more user set up functions than XP. That was why it was a failure, Instead of Microsoft developing an easier interface, the designed a monster!!
I think Windows XP from Microsoft has the best user interface design. It's easy to use for children and adults. One thing I don't like about it is that it seems to slow down my computer. The best 'user interface', also know as GUI (Graphical User Interface), as shown by the marketplace, is still found in the Windows Operating System, specifically Windows XP. The latest MS OS is Vista, and, while it has enhanced features, the divergance from the 'classic' Windows functionality leaves many new users fumbling with documentation to perform previously routine tasks. Second in ranking, from a user interface standpoint would the the Apple MAC OS. Many business and government Operating System use Linux and/or Unix as their primariy OS due to extensibility and affordability, but both of those systems rely more heavily on command line operations.
