Put a floppy disk in the drive. With Windows, go to file save as, then go to the drop down box. At the top of that box, go the 3 1/2 floppy and save it.

it is done by a reading light that passes over dints in the disk which is allocated inside the platic cover which forms the binery cod 1 and 0 forming data blocks form the code, e.g

The answer above is refering in principle to how CD's work - NOT floppies. Floppy disks store binary data as a series of magnetic dots on the surface of the disk and are written to / read from by a voice coil (electro-magnet).

What are the advantages of floppy disks?

Portability and easily available.. Low cost..reusableuseful for transferring data or files between computers

Why floppy disk are not a part of a computer system nowadays?

Because floppy disks could only hold tiny amounts of data, only above 1Mb, where as now days memory sticks can hold over 16Gb, over 16,000 times more data. They are also bigger in size too. Most documents and files wouldn't even fit on a floppy, such as MP3 files (songs) which are about 4Mb.

What do you use floppy disks for?

Storing data, transferring data from on computer to another.

What is floppy disk storage methods?

Floppy disks use magnetic disk to store the data.

Can you store 2000 KB of data in a floppy?

No, Floppy disks can hold no more than 1440kb of info...

When were floppy disks discontinued?

As of 2009, floppy disks are still manufactured and sold in limited quantities. They ceased to be a popular choice for data backup and transport after about 2002.

Why do the floppy disk files which have been saved to your computer load so slowly?

The primary reason that floppy disks are so slow is that the computers they were originally used on were very slow. Floppy disks have had to be kept at a slow rate so that old software on them can still be used and older computers can still read disks made by newer ones.

Flash drives have replaced floppy disks as the perferred method of portable storage because?

They can hold more data than floppy disks and computers aren't really made with floppy disk entrances :)

How many floppy disc equal a 4gb flash drive?

You would need 729 floppy disks to hold 1GB of data. This is because:1 gigabyte is equal to 1,073,741,824 bytes1 floppy disk can hold 1,474,560 bytesSo floppy disks per gigabyte is equal to 1,073,741,824 divided by 1,474,560, which is 728.18 disks. This means you would need 729 disks to hold the full 1GB.

What are things such as floppy disks and flash drives called?

Data storage devices.

How many 3.5 floppy disks will equal 1Terabyte?

A standard 3.5-inch floppy disk has a capacity of 1.44 megabytes. To convert 1 terabyte (1,000,000 megabytes) to floppy disks, you would divide 1,000,000 by 1.44, which equals approximately 694,444 floppy disks. Therefore, it would take around 694,444 3.5 floppy disks to equal 1 terabyte of data.

What is the function of floppy disk?

The function of a floppy disk drive is to provide a means of writing/reading data on/from floppy disks in an industry standardized method. Floppy Disks were invented as an improved means for storing/transporting data on/from computers. The universality and standardization of disk storage technologies was important to the personal computer industry. By standardizing these complex technologies, computer manufacturers were able to, over time, inexpensively source drives and disks, thus reducing the cost of the computer systems. This made PC's more affordable for everyon
