There is no simple way of turning numbers into their corresponding words or words into their corresponding numbers in Excel. It is possible to do it for a limited amount, but not for all numbers or all words, because there are so many. To do it for some limited values you could use one of the lookup functions. It is slightly easier to do numbers to words than doing words to numbers.

Microsoft Word has limited capabilities to do calculations. On the Table menu there is an option called Formula which has some of the standard formulas that you have in spreadsheets for doing sum functions or averages or getting maximums or minimums and so on. If you change values in a Word Table, the formulas will not automatically update like they do in Excel. What you will need to do when you change values is put the cursor into the cell in the table that has the formula and then press the F9 key to update the formula.

Excel is better for doing calculations automatically, more complicated calculations or where you have a lot of calculations. A completed spreadsheet can be copied and pasted into a Word document, and if you use Paste Special and Paste Link, you can keep the Word document up to date with the updates in the Excel document.
