Ctrl - C is the most common way to copy with the keyboard, but it can be done other ways. For example, Alt - E - C will work and some applications have special ways of doing it, like pressing Shift - F2 in Word.
Ctrl - X is the common way to paste. Alt - E - P and Shift - Insert can also do it.
