Changing the resolution (horizontal resolution = image width, vertical = height, image resolution = width x height) is the same with resizing an image. Generally speaking you can resize your images or change their format:
- on various WEB sites (Google for image converter online). Their advantage is that you do not have to pay anything, to install anything expect maybe for a java engine. Their disadvantages are limited image size, limited conversion formats and an average quality of the conversion results (most use predefined php or asp routines).
- using image editing/viewing programs. They can be free (GIMP, Irfanview, Google Picasa) or commercial (Photoshop). They allow you to precisely set the conversion options resulting in good conversion results. Their weakness is the complex interface for a relatively simple task and the more or less poor support for converting a lot of images in one operation.
- using dedicated image converters (free or paid). They are created for photo/image conversion and are (typically) simple to use. As the name says, these tools are also used to convert images from one format to another (for example from tif to jpeg or bitmap). Since these are tools shaped for this task, they (typically) have no weaknesses in image quality, easy to use, advanced conversion options, batch mode support, ... Some of them support RAW formats (a must for professional photographers) and maybe upload to various web photo album services (for example picasa WEB Albums). An example of an image converter supporting everything noted above is AZImage (see reference).
The quality of the photo will drop noticeably and the image may become blurry on certain pixels.
To increase the file size of a photo, you can do so by adjusting the image resolution and quality settings. Increasing the resolution and saving the image in a higher quality format, such as TIFF or PNG, can result in a larger file size. Additionally, you can also add layers or apply filters to the image to increase its complexity and size.
As usual, Image > Image Size but pay attention on image resolution.
The larger the resolution, the larger the file size. When you compress a photo, chances are you are going to lose a lot of information from the photo that degrades picture quality.
Usually. but it also depends on other things such as image format (bmps is usually wayy bigger than jpg)
To improve the JPEG image quality of your photos, you can try the following techniques: Use a higher resolution when capturing the photo. Avoid excessive compression when saving the image. Use photo editing software to adjust the brightness, contrast, and sharpness of the image. Avoid repeatedly saving the image in JPEG format, as this can lead to loss of quality.
Changing resolution you will change print size of photo or both print size and pixel dimensions. This depend what resolution you need. Example: if you have 400x200 px image with 300 resolution (1.3 inch wide printable dimension) changing resolution to 72 px per inch you can get 1600x800px image with 5.2 inch wide printable dimension.
reducing teh resolution and/pr quality of that image.
A photo size of 700k typically refers to the file size, indicating that the image is approximately 700 kilobytes (KB) in size. The dimensions of the photo can vary widely depending on the image resolution and format. For example, a 700 KB JPEG image might have dimensions around 1200 x 800 pixels, but this can differ based on the level of compression used. Overall, the image quality and detail can also influence the file size.
To change a photo's content type to JPG, you can use an image editing software or an online converter. First, open the image in the software, then select the "Save As" or "Export" option. Choose JPG or JPEG as the file format, adjust any quality settings if needed, and save the file. Alternatively, you can upload the image to an online converter, select JPG as the desired format, and download the converted file.
To resize a photo to under 5MB, you can use image editing software or online tools. Open the image in the software, then adjust the image dimensions or resolution, which will reduce the file size. Alternatively, you can compress the image format (e.g., converting to JPEG) or reduce the quality settings during export. Save the new file and check its size to ensure it meets your requirement.
The average size of a photo is typically around 2-5 megabytes, depending on the resolution and quality of the image.
