It is palette where are stored all layers you have in document, on this palette you have options to change opacity of layer (right upper corner of palette, slider opacity) or layer blending option (left upper corner - drop down list) at bottom of palette you have more options through small icons like add drop shadow, make new layer, group layers to organize them or delete layer pressing wastebasket icon.

You can save thumbnail preview with image in Save or Save As dialog. Thumbnails in LAYERS palette you can choose thumbnail options from LAYERS panel options (top right corner of LAYERS palette > Panel Options).

Select that layer (click on it on LAYERS palette) where is something You want to add glow effect then click on fx at bottom of LAYERS palette and choose Outer glow effect (or Inner).
Select layer You want to transform (click on it at LAYERS palette) then press Ctrl + T.
The easiest way to select all layers and objects in a Photoshop document is: # Open your layers palette. # For PC, press and hold CTRL key; for MAC, press and hold CMD key # While holding key, use mouse to click and select each layer in your layers palette. Doing this will allow modifications to affect all layers. If you only want to affect change to a particular area of all layers, follow steps above and then with all layers selected, use any marquee or selection tool to isolate the area you want to work with. In this way, only the area within the marquee selection will be affected on all layers.
