If you wish to delete auto pictures in the cloud for instance (Google Photos), you can delete it from the desktop. If you are signed into Google from the desktop, simply go to the Google page, go to the Apps icon on the top corner, and scroll down to Photos. From there, just choose which picture(s) you want to delete.
If you go to Photos on your Nexus 7 however, it will delete both what's in the cloud as well as what's stored in the tablet's internal memory...so be careful.
