If by broken means the screen is cracked due to dropping it, dropping something on it or- as I did- sitting on it then I would in the first instance call Amazon and own up, chances are they'll sort you out somehow even if it isn't in warranty- maybe a replacement, discount on a new one or a good deal on a refurbished one.
You, can't fix it. It must be replaced. Repair companies will charge 60-80 ukp to replace the screen which may not be economic for a device which originally cost £110.

Yes,You can type on a kindle and kindle 3G. Its touch-screen and has a keyboard. Its like a IPad but on a IPad you can play games but on a kindle you can only read.
You can't really 'change' the screen savers but every time you power down your kindle the screen changes to a different screen saver each time.
first you hold down the power switch for 20 seconds, if that does not work than try pugging it into an outlet.
The Kindle keyboard is better IMHO. The keyboard version has tactile buttons - instead of a touch-sensitive screen.
