Most new printers come with an installation disk with the drivers on it and the disk will usually automatically start when put into your PC. If you can't find or don't have the disk you can go onto the manufacturers website in most cases and just download it off of there. Either way if it does not automatically load than you must go into the add a printer section of your printers and faxes screen and than add it. start-settings-printers and faxes-"click" on add a printer-next-choose port-next-find your pritner in the directory or click have disk and browse for where you saved it when you downloaded it off the internet-next-next-next-finish
The printer driver is probably corrupt. Try reinstalling the printer driver from the maker's website or install disk.
DOS only supports the generic based printers.. You need not to install any printer in it as it always use Generic Text printer driver.. You can only use Dot Matrix Printer (DMP) in DOS without any driver..

The fix is almost always to install the correct printer driver software (if you can find it).
