It depends what kind of camera you are using, but you can hit a ''pause'' button if it has one. If it does not, try hitting the record button again, reversing the effect, and stopping the film.
Your Photobooth masterpieces are stored in the Photobooth folder within the Pictures folder. You can also right click on a thumbnail in Photobooth and select Export or use the Export option in the Photobooth File menu. The video can be added to mail as an attachment.

A PhotoBooth movie can be dragged by it's thumbnail image from the bottom of the PhotoBooth window out of PhotoBooth on to the Desktop and then can be dragged into an Event in iMovie's Event Library. Or you can drag it directly into the iMovie Event Library if you do not want a copy on the Desktop.

Unfortuntely you can't pause it because Cyberlink You cam doesn't have a pause feature. That's one of its biggest drawbacks. Al it will do is allow you to stop and start a new video.
You cant you can only pause it when your watching it after it has been recorded.
Photobooth is an application for MAC OS. there are other programs available for windows that work in the same way as photobooth
