A write-protect tab is a physical switch found on some storage media, such as floppy disks and SD cards, that prevents data from being written or modified on the device. When the tab is slid to the "lock" position, it disables write operations, ensuring that the stored data remains unchanged. This feature is useful for protecting important files from accidental deletion or alteration. To enable writing again, the tab must be moved back to the "unlock" position.
I have 2 Centon DataStickPRO 32 GB = The disk is write protected. I want to format them
hi dear friend i can,t remove right protect in my 8gb pen drive
Go to regedit registry key storagedevicepolicies, then create a new Dword and name as write protect. Assign value 0 to it and restart.
There is a slider tab on the side. Move it to the write position. The slider has 3 positions; up, down and middle. I found up and down would not remove the write-protection. However the middle position worked like a charm. Hope this helps someone else.
To unlock the slide lock on your SD card, simply slide the switch on the side of the card to the unlocked position. This will allow you to write, delete, and modify the data on the card.
If you are plugging the micro sd card inserted through a card adapter to your PC then all you need to do is just check and unlock the lock button to remove write protection.
Flip the "Write Protect Switch" on the side of the card, - Format the card (avoids file ownership problems).
