Generally, there is a contrast control on the monitor. How to adjust it depends on the monitor. You often have to pull up the monitor's on-screen display to adjust the contrast, brightness, and other settings.

There are often also video card controls too. If you cannot adjust things as you wish on your monitor, you can often go to the display setting in the control panel and see if there are controls there specific to your video card. It might be called the Catalyst Control Panel or mention nVidia.

If you have a program installed for your GPU (Graphics card) then you may be able to do it through this. However, the easiest way it to set the contrast on your monitor. Each brand of monitor is different, but there should be some kind of menu key. Press that, and find either a contrast option, or something like Display Settings. Once you find contrast, just use the plus/minus keys to set it to the desired level. Then press the "ok" button if you have one, or if not, probably the menu button to get out. You may need to press it several times to exit the menu, or you may need to select an "exit" option, and kit the ok button.
