Virtual Memory is using the Hard Drive as if it were RAM. Cache is memory for frequently used things and is not stored on the hard drive.
This was a BIOS settings issue. In the BIOS of this Asus netbook I found a second setting, which also had to be set with "USB" as 1st boot device. When I found this setting, the 'Boot Settings' dialog box had the following categories: "Boot Device Priority". "Hard Disk Drives": It was necessary to additionally set "USB" as 1st boot device within the "Hard Disk Drives" category. In here its default settings were: "HDD" "USB".
You can default your home if you will set the settings to "set as default " after visiting the desired home to be the default one.
There is difference between SATA and PATA HDD but no difference between the formatting..
Click on start, then control panel, then default programs, and select set your default programs.
What you can do is have another SSD and set that as a cache disk so that the computer automatically loads up frequently-used pieces of data and programs onto the cache disk to speed up loading and doesn't require your mechanical hard disk to spin up all the time. However, if you have the mechanical disk set up as a boot disk, you could do the same with your existing SSD but move all the data off the SSD into the mechanical hard disk and then set the SSD as a cache disk. It will speed up your mechanical disk to a certain degree.
Modern BIOSes will automatically probe the disk controller for information about the hard drive. It may still be necessary to enter the BIOS to set the correct boot order, however.

A.) The hard disk drive.
You can install it right into one of your Hard Disk Drive. (Assuming there has been set more than one Disk's) I suggest creating a folder, and installing it there.
